XVideo®-VIO Discontinued

XVideo-VIO Cards for Sun Discontinued; XVideo XtraTM and PowerVideoTM Cards Will Continue to Be Available

Effective December 31, 1997

Please note that on December 31, 1997, Parallax Graphics discontinued the manufacture and sale of our XVideo-VIO products: XV-VIO and XVC-VIO. Parallax Graphics received notification of obsolescence from vendors of several of the components on the product. There are no substitution or equivalent parts available.

As of December 31, 1997, all available new XVideo cards have been purchased with non-cancellable orders, for delivery by March 31, 1998.

There are a limited quantity of refurbished XVideo-VIO loaner cards available for purchase; orders will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis. All orders must be non-cancellable. Orders must be deliverable by March 31, 1998.

Parallax will make every effort to stock an adequate supply of spare components to guarantee hardware maintenance for the product for five (5) years after December 31, 1997 (until December 31, 2002).

As part of our efforts to meet customer needs, Parallax Graphics introduced the XVideo Xtra card in August, 1996. XVC-XTRA is a single-slot overlay card very similar to the XVC-VIO framebuffer card. The chart below compares the features of the two products for your review and consideration. Please note that XVC-XTRA is currently supported on Solaris 2.5 only. We believe that for many of our XVC-VIO customers, XVC-XTRA will make an excellent performance and cost efficient substitute. The PowerVideo framebuffer cards will continue to be available as well.

Parallax sales and support people are standing by to answer your questions regarding product end of life, pricing, and availability, and to address any concerns you may have regarding requirements for and support of new and existing products.

Thank you for your investment in Parallax Graphics products. Please do not hesitate to contact me or your Parallax sales representative at 408-727-2220 (California) or in Virginia at 703-715-3017, or send e-mail to info@parallax.com.

Sincerely,
